Getting to St. Louis
Located at the geographic hub of the United States, St. Louis is easily accessible via plane, train and automobile.
By Air: St. Louis Lambert International (STL) Airport
By Train: Amtrak
The trains run daily from stations located in the St. Louis suburb of Kirkwood and at the Gateway Transportation Center located on South 15th Street. Along with Amtrak the Gateway Transportation Center serves Greyhound and Burlington Trailways interstate buses and is conveniently located one block from a MetroLink Light Rail Station and Historic St. Louis Union Station.
By Car
If you’re driving to St. Louis with your own wheels, our easy-to-use network of Interstate highways makes it a short drive to local attractions. From the east, I-70, I-64 and I-55 head west across the Mississippi River and into downtown St. Louis. I-70 runs north of downtown past the airport and west through Missouri. I-55 turns south past the Anheuser-Busch brewery and continues through southeastern Missouri. I-64, which the locals call Highway 40, continues west through St. Louis, past Forest Park to the Missouri River. I-44 begins in downtown St. Louis and runs southwest along the former path of Route 66 to Springfield, Missouri.

Metro Transit Directions
Washington University in St. Louis' Danforth Campus is accessible via MetroLink light rail from the airport, train station or around town.
From the airport, take a Red Line train eastbound to the Forest Park-DeBaliviere station.
From the train station, take a Red Line train westbound to the Forest Park-DeBaliviere station.
Change trains at the Forest Park station for a westbound Blue Line train. For quickest access to the Department of Physics, passengers on the MetroLink should take the Blue Line train to the Skinker Station (first stop). If you're heading to the dorms, stay on until the University City/Big Bend Station (second stop).
Metro Tickets can be purchased straight from your phone with mobile fares. The passes are integrated with the Transit app. You can also purchase tickets at any station. All tickets need to be validated before boarding the train. A single ride on MetroLink is $2.50, or $1.25 for people qualified for reduced fares (including people over 65). A weekly pass is $27, which would be unlimited for the week. A One-Day Adventure Pass is $5.00. A two hour pass purchased at the airport costs $4.00.
Parking
If you are planning to drive to campus for the conference, the most convenient parking lot, closest to the Department of Physics, is the East End Garage (building 201 on the campus map). To gain access, visitors will need to pull a ticket at the visitor parking entrance and park in a designated visitor space. When leaving, please pay either at the pay station or at the garage exit.
