Scott Hershberger, a senior at WashU double-majoring in physics and math with a minor in Spanish, has been named an AAAS Mass Media Fellow. This summer, Scott will be writing for Scientific American as part of a 10-week program. While at WashU, he conducted quantum mechanics research with Kater Murch and math research with Xiang Tang. He has been writing about science for the Ampersand as an intern since September 2019. In addition to writing, Scott teaches piano lessons and tutors math students. With the rest of his time, he enjoys composing jazz music, reading about linguistics, and playing racquetball.
