Quantum math- the superposition principle, Bell's inequality, and uncertainties
Zohar Nussinov, Washington University in St. Louis
We will outline several conceptual ideas underlying the mathematics used to describe quantum phenomena and its direct physical consequences. We will introduce the math used to describe quantum superposition and measurement. Time permitting, we will describe elements of this description related to Bell's inequality (whose experimental confirmation ruled out hidden variable theories) and the fundamental position-momentum (and quite different time-energy) uncertainty relations.
