Presolar Record Explored via Laboratory Investigation of Cometary Samples

Cometary material escaped much of the parent-body processing that affected asteroidal material in the inner Solar System. To this end, comets are much more likely to contain primordial remnants of the presolar nebula. In this talk, I will discuss oxygen isotopic measurements of cometary mineral phases which condensed directly from nebular gas and the implications of the results. In addition, I will discuss what the application of novel experimental techniques to Apollo-era lunar samples can tell us about circumstellar and interstellar processing of crystalline solids.
