Postcards from the Moon: St. Louis Astronomical Society December Meeting

Robert Reeves, Lunar Photo of the Day, will be presenting “Postcards from the Moon”

Robert Reeves, amateur astronomer and lunar photographer, will present a review of the evolution of the Moon and its geology so that people can “become friends with and understand the Moon as seen through a telescope." Most library branches in the St. Louis Metro area have telescopes available for checkout to adult library card holders. The Moon is the best target for telescope viewing by the general public, especially from urban and suburban locations.

Reeves has been a devoted lunar photographer since 1959. He photographs the Moon from his Perspective Observatory nestled in central Texas. Mr. Reeves has published over 250 magazine articles and 250 newspaper columns about astronomy in a number of nationally circulated popular science magazines. In 2000, Robert published Wide-Field Astrophotography, followed by Introduction to Digital Astrophotography in 2005 and Introduction to Webcam Astrophotography in 2006. Robert’s latest book, Exploring the Moon with Robert Reeves, was released in August of 2023.

The St. Louis Astronomical Society is an organization for individuals interested in astronomy and telescopes. The event, cosponsored by NASA's Missouri Space Grant Consortium, is open to the public free of charge. For more information about Astronomical Society events, please visit www.slasonline.org.

Free parking will be available.
