Physics Theory Seminar with Alex Gnech on β-decay

Alex Gnech (Hosted by Pastore) from Jefferson Lab will be presenting this seminar "The β-decay of 6He Within the Hyperspherical Harmonic Basis"

We present some recent results of the application of the hyperspherical harmonic (HH) approach to A=6 nuclei. The use of a new computational approach permitted the extension of the HH method, successfully used by the Pisa group in the few-body system context, to study systems with more than A=4 nucleons. In the first part of this talk, we shortly review some of the technical improvements introduced in the HH method. As example, we show results for the spectra of the A=6 nuclei computed with modern SRG evolved two-body chiral interactions. In the latter part, we discuss the 6He β-decay comparing the results obtained using different interaction models, highlighting, in particular, the effects of the SRG evolution of the interactions on the Gamow-Teller matrix element.

Post-docs and students' Q&A with the speaker starts at 2:15 pm.
