Physics Colloquium with Duncan Lorimer on The growing population of fast radio bursts

Duncan Lorimer (hosted by Tansu Daylan) from West Virginia University will be presenting at the Colloquium on The growing population of fast radio bursts.

Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) are millisecond-duration pulses of as-yet unknown cosmological origin. As the second decade of research into FRBs is coming to a close, the current sample of these enigmatic objects stands at around 1000 with several thousand more expected soon. In this talk I review what has been learned from this sample and highlight some of the exciting prospects to look forward to in the coming decade.
