Condensed Matter/Materials & Biological Physics Seminar with Eli Levenson-Falk on Exploring Open Quantum Systems

Eli Levenson-Falk (Hosted by Murch) from University of Southern California will be presenting the seminar "Exploring Open Quantum Systems with Superconducting Circuits"

Open quantum systems are a topic of great theoretical interest, and seem to be the key to understanding the relationship between deterministic coherent quantum evolution, stochastic measurement outcomes, and definite classical reality. Many open systems effects have also been proposed as resources to preserve fidelity in quantum processes. Unfortunately experimental tests have been lacking, and so there is a great need for a generalized experimental toolkit for open quantum systems engineering. I present some experimental and numerical results from my group using superconducting circuits to generate controlled open systems effects, including creation and control of on-demand dissipation, and weak measurement feedback to induce and stabilize entanglement.
