Canvas now offers a place for students to add their personal pronouns and name pronunciation to their account.
Would you like to help people pronounce your name better? Record your name and add a link in your signature file through WashU's NameCoach tool.
NameCoach allows you to record your name so that your instructors and classmates can pronounce it correctly. You can also choose to add the pronunciation to your email signature if you want. You can find step-by-step instructions here.
Instructors need to enable name recordings in Canvas.
You can also choose what pronouns you'd like to use for your classes.
Note that there are a lot more choices than are shown in the step-by-step instructions.
Each option takes only a minute or two to set up and you just have to do it one time and it will stay with your Canvas profile throughout your time as a student (or until you change it).
