The Washington University in St. Louis chapter of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) has been recognized as a Distinguished Chapter from the SPS National Office for 2023-2024.
The Society of Physics Students (SPS) is a professional association designed for undergrad students and membership is open to anyone interested in physics and related fields. SPS operates within the American Institute of Physics (AIP), an umbrella organization for professional physical science societies.
The SPS chapter at Washington University is advised by Xi Wang and is led by student officers; the 2023-2024 student president was Cassidy Metzger and is currently Saanya Manoj.
SPS chapters are evaluated on their level of interaction with the campus community, the professional physics community, the public, and with SPS national programs. The Distinguished Chapter designation recognizes our chapter's leadership and their ability to foster leadership among our students, as well as helping to fulfill the mission of SPS to “help students transform themselves into contributing members of the professional community.”
