Physics Colloquium with Ryan Ogliore on Meteorites and the Solar System

Ryan Ogliore from Washington University in St. Louis will be presenting the colloquium "Sculpted by Starlight: A Meteorite Witness to the Solar System's Birth"

In recent years, studies of exoplanets have revealed that planetary systems are common in the Galaxy. An understanding of the formation and early evolution of the Solar System can yield insight into the origins of exoplanetary systems with habitable planets. Primitive meteorites are tight-lipped witnesses to the Solar System's beginnings. In this talk, I will discuss our analyses of a particular enigmatic phase, cosmic symplectite, which recorded the astronomical setting of the Solar System's birth environment.
