Gerhard Fasol is now President of the company Eurotechnology Japan K. K., a Tokyo-Japan based corporation working on international high-tech business projects in the areas of electronics, opto-electronics, software, telecommunications and internet. Most of our projects are across the US-Japan or Europe-Japan interfaces. Our customers are Japanese, US and European corporations, and among our customers are some of the worlds largest corporations. Among other things we work with US and European corporations assisting them to expand business in Japan and vice-versa we work with Japanese corporations expanding business in Europe and USA, and we are also involved in M&A projects.

Previous to founding Eurotechnology Japan K. K., Gerhard Fasol was one of the first foreigners to build up an international research group as faculty member of the Electrical Engineering Department of Tokyo University (Japan's top-ranking undergraduate and graduate school), he was the first foreigner to complete a "Sakigake" (=Pioneer) research project of Japan's Science & Technology Development Corporation (now JST, formerly JRDC). Gerhard Fasol works continuously in Japan since 1991. Previous to coming to Japan, he was Manager of Hitachi's Cambridge Research Laboratory. He was also permanent faculty member in Physics at the Cavendish Laboratoy of Cambridge University, a Director of Studies and Teaching Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, and a Member of Scientific Staff of the Max-Planck-Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart. His Ph.D. is in Solid State Physics from Cambridge University, where he was a member of Trinity College.

Gerhard Fasol is co-author of the recent book "The blue laser diode - GaN based light emitters and lasers" (Springer-Verlag, 1997), he is author of about 80 scientific papers. He lives in Tokyo with his family, loves skying and mountains, and sometimes enjoys crazy things like jumping out of airplanes (with a parachute on the back), or watching the sun rise on the top of Europe's highest mountains.
